VOLUNTEERS:

At any convention such as this, the most important asset for the organizers is the crew of volunteers.  Volunteers show up to offer their time and efforts to help out the organizers, by providing hours of manpower for the tasks that are necessary to make everything run smoothly.  Volunteers handle everything from assisting with registration at the main entrance table, to walking the floors as "security" volunteers.  Volunteers man booths, monitor tables, check Con badges at entry points, escort guests, provide information, coordinate lines for activities, man the Hospitality Suite, acts as ushers at the Dinner, help carry displays and merchandise for Dealers, act as stage hands for the Grand Masquerade, and generally help out where-ever needed.

Our Convention Staff numbers small, and we, too, need the help of our intrepid volunteets.  We ask our friends who are pre-registering for the Con, as well as those who intend to register at the door, to search their souls, and determine if they have some time, during the convention weekend, that they could commit to helping us out.  We don't demand, or set specific times for our volunteers to pick from.  We simply ask them, if they have time, to give us an idea of what time, or times they would be willing to make themselves available as volunteers.  From these dedicated times we will make up a schedule for our volunteers.

We need people who are willing to man the Hospitality Suite, which would involve simply being present and monitoring the supply of snacks and such to ensure that they don't run out.  It would be a matter of notifying those in charge of the Hospitality Suite when the supplies got low.  We also need folks who are willing to spend some time manning entry-ways to activities to watch folks to make sure that everyone going in is wearing the appropriate Con Badge.  We'd need some people to walk the floors periodically to make sure all Con attendees have paid, and are wearing their Con Badges, and to keep an eye on the crowd and alert Con Staff if anyone becomes rowdy or gets out of hand.  We would need volunteer assistants at Registration, in the Video Room, as ushers and escorts during the Grand Masque, and assorted other duties throughout the weekend.  Stop by Con HQ/Registration to inquire as to what sort of volunteers are neede, and to offer your services.  Or, you can let us know that you wish to volunteer, and what you wish to volunteer for, upon pre-registration.  There is appropriate space on the Pre-Registration Form to do so.

We can guarantee no special considerations for volunteers, at this time.  However, we do plan to have a special "thank you" package to present to each and every volunteer.  And, we offer our gratitude, in advance, to those who will be willing to help us out.  We are going to assure each and every volunteer that when we schedule the duties, we're going to make sure that we do not prevent our volunteers from enjoying the convention.  We will keep scheduled duty shifts short, and spaced so as to permit the volunteers the maximum time to enjoy the Con.

You may contact our Volunteer Coordinator by e-mail, snai mail, or telephone any time.  When e-mailing, or snail mailing, head the missive "Attention Deputy Coordinator - Volunteers."  We can be reached via the contact information listed elsewhere on this site.
